Iguazú Falls, March 2001


Iguazú falls. They have to be seen to be appreciated. Almost 300 feet high, on the border between Argentina and Brazil, the name comes from the Guaraní indian word for big water. Iguazú is pronounced as "ee gwa sue" with the stress on the final "sue".

The pictures from the air were taken on March 1, those from the Argentinian side on March 2, and the remainder on March 3, from the Brazilian side.

In the fifth picture below, you can see the rubber excursion boat which goes under the falls. You get an opportunity to take pictures, then you get drenched...

The final picture below shows a pair of walking sticks which I saw near the rim on the Brazilian side.
