Flight to Skytop Lodge, September 2, 2007

The weather was supposed to be really great, so on thursday, I called Skytop to say that I wanted to fly in for lunch on Sunday. Skytop was once a private club, and has lodging, great food, golf, and all sorts of other activities. We departed Brandywine about 1130 for a 42 minute flight. On the way up, we passed a mystery building, Flying Dollar Airport (8N4, a grass strip) the golf club, and then landed by the white arrow the resort had put out for us.

After a stroll to the lake, we got back in and headed for home. One of the first things we saw was the Delaware Water Gap, twenty five miles away. It seems that even in nice areas, there's a junkyard. Next we passed over the ridge which goes from the east side of the water gap, to just north of Hamburg, PA. At our two o'clock was Lehigh Valley International Airport (KABE). The cooling towers at Limerick were visible as we approached Pottstown. Dusty wanted to fly over the Inn at St. Peters Village, a beautifully restored historical build which now serves as a really great restaurant rising from the ashes of a biker bar. Finally, because it was Labor Day weekend, we flew over Ludwigs Corner where the annual horse show was in progress. All in all, a great time, great meal, and a great flight!
